Tashkent, Uzbekistan – March 26, 2025

To expand and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and science a delegation from M. Auezov South Kazakhstan Research University, led by Rector Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki, met with partner universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan: Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan, Sh. Rashidov Samarkand State University and Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology.

Since 2024, a branch of M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University has been successfully operating in the city of Chirchik. This branch was established as a result of agreements between the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev. The creation and strengthening of international educational platforms, such as the M. Auezov SKU branch in Uzbekistan, opens up new opportunities for academic mobility of students and faculty, experience exchange, joint scientific research and the implementation of innovative educational programs.

The Kazakh delegation also met with the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan K. Sharipov, to discuss key issues of bilateral cooperation in higher education and the prospects for further development of the M. Auezov SKU branch in Chirchik. In particular, it was proposed to:

Train scientific personnel at the branch,

Organize joint annual scientific forums on current research topics,

Conduct summer scientific schools,

Hold technological sessions for industrial enterprises, involving scientific communities of both countries,

Implement innovative undergraduate and master’s programs in IT starting from this academic year.

As a result of meetings with partner universities, agreements were signed to launch dual-degree educational programs in Applied Chemistry and arrangements were made for joint scientific projects and collaboration in partner universities’ research laboratories.

The development of our Chirchik branch is not only a step toward strengthening educational ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan but also an opportunity to train highly qualified specialists who can contribute to the development of science and innovation in our countries. We anticipate further expansion of our collaboration through the export of scientific and educational services for research organizations and industrial partners in the Republic of Uzbekistan», said Darkhan Akhmed-Zaki.

This visit marked a significant step toward deepening partnerships between educational institutions of both countries and reaffirmed M. Auezov SKU’s commitment to the active development of fruitful international cooperation with global partners.
