- Hits: 19
Financial security remains an essential component of every citizen's well-being. In today's digital age, protecting young people from online scams and fraudulent financial schemes has become particularly urgent.
On the initiative of the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, lectures on the topic of "Basics of Financial Security" were held simultaneously in all regions of the country. One of these sessions was held at the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board - Rector of the University, Darkhan Akhmed-Zhaki, the Head of the Department of Economic Investigations in Shymkent, Bakhyt Kaishybekov, members of the university faculty and students.
"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has consistently emphasised the need to improve the financial literacy of the population, especially the younger generation, through ongoing educational initiatives and the cultivation of financial awareness. We believe that events such as this will provide students with practical knowledge and help them make thoughtful, informed decisions in the future," said Darkhan Zhumakanovich.
According to official data, 29 financial pyramid schemes were uncovered and 327 online chat groups with a total membership of 1.5 million people were blocked in 2024. The majority of victims were young people.
Experts explained what "21st century digital traps" look like, how to identify financial fraudsters, who the "drops" are, and how to avoid falling into a pyramid scheme trap. These topics were presented through interactive surveys, relatable examples, and game-based activities. Students actively participated in the session and answered questions.
The event was also attended by the famous 'Million'comedy team and singer Machenskii, who urged young people to be vigilant and wary of scams.
